Role Maintenance allows the ability to associate employees with specific types of tasks, simplifying task assignments. Roles are used to filter employee selection in Project Schedule and when using the Apply Team functionality.

Select Maintenance from the Main Menu. Click on Project Schedule and select the Role button to open the Role Maintenance application.
Upon entering the Role Maintenance application, all defined Roles will display on the first tab, sorted by Role code. The second tab includes the selected Role detailed information.
To add a new Role, enter the following information on the first (empty) row in the grid:
Role Code - A unique code to identify the role, containing up to 6 characters.
Description - A description of the role, containing up to 30 characters.
Inactive - If a role is no longer in use, it may be marked as Inactive. Inactive roles will no longer be available for selection.
When completed, click the New icon to add the new role code. Since the roles are sorted by the 'role code', the newly added code may not display on the initial page of the grid.
To discard the entry of a new role code, click the Cancel icon.
The role code grid displays 10 records at a time. The grid's footer indicates the total number of pages that are available for viewing. Use the Change page navigational arrows to view all role codes.
Save changes to the screen before using the 'Change page' navigation.
Upon initial view of the Role Maintenance application, only active roles are displayed. To view roles that are inactive, click the Show Inactive checkbox, located top right corner of application. To display just the active roles, uncheck the Show Inactive checkbox.
The only fields that can be modified are the Description and Inactive fields. When modifying is completed, click the Save icon located on the individual role code row.
If multiple changes have been made to the role codes, to save all rows simultaneously click the Save All icon located in the column header.
To delete a role code, click the Delete icon located on the individual role code row. A message will display verifying that the role code is to be deleted. Click OK to delete the role code, otherwise click Cancel to not delete the role code.
To generate a report listing all role codes, click the Export to Excel icon, located top right corner of application. If the Show Inactive checkbox is selected, the report will also include all inactive roles codes.
Upon initial view of the Role Detail application, only active roles are available for selection. To view roles that are inactive, click the Show Inactive checkbox, located top right corner of application. To display just the active roles, uncheck the Show Inactive checkbox.
There are two ways to view Role detail:
From the Role tab, double click on the Role Code. The Role detail's information will automatically be displayed on the Role Detail tab.
Click on the Role Detail tab and select the role from the dropdown.
To add tasks to a role, on the Role Detail tab select the role from the dropdown. The Role Detail displays the available tasks and employees for association as well as currently assigned tasks and employees for that role.
Tasks and Employees are automatically saved once moved to the Available or Current selection window.
To assign a task to the role, highlight the task and click on the To Right arrow, located between the Available Tasks and Current Tasks selection windows.
Multiple tasks can be selected at the same time by holding down the Ctrl button while clicking on each task.
To select all tasks at the same time, click on the All to Right arrow, located between the Available Tasks and Current Tasks selection windows.
To assign employees to the role, highlight the employee and click on the To Right arrow, located between the Available Employees and Current Employees selection windows.
Multiple employees can be selected at the same time by holding down the Ctrl button while clicking on each employee.
To select all employee, at the same time, click on the All to Right arrow, located between the Available Employees and Current Employees selection windows.
To remove a task from the role, highlight the task and click on the To Left arrow, located between the Available Tasks and Current Tasks selection windows.

To select all tasks at the same time, click on the All to Left arrow, located between the Available Tasks and Current Tasks selection windows.
To assign employees to the role, highlight the employee and click on the To Left arrow, located between the Available Employees and Current Employees selection windows.

To generate a report listing the role detail, click the Export to Excel icon, located top right corner of application.
Click on the x on Role Maintenance to exit the maintenance application.
